Electric Corded Weed Eaters

There are a few popular brands such as Sun Joe, Kobolt, Ryobi, Greenworks, and Black+Decker. Kobolt and Ryobi are exclusive to Lowe’s and Home Depot respectively. Sun Joe, Black+Decker, and Greenworks can be found at multiple retailers including Amazon.com.

Greenworks is one of our personal favorites, they are priced reasonably and well built. We like the Greenworks model PRO 80V BRUSHLESS 16″ STRING TRIMMER W/ 2.0 AH BATTERY. Some of the cool features of Greenworks weed eaters are:

  • A wide 16″ cut path with a .080″ dual line bump feed head rips through weeds in your yard
  • Brushless motor for more torque, quiet operation, and longer life
  • Digital Hi/Lo Variable Speed trigger for precise control over cutting power
  • Attachment capable design accepts attachments from multiple brands
  • Top-mounted motor with an aluminum straight shaft allows for superior balance and ergonomics while trimming

It also uses the 80V battery system which is interchangeable with more than 20 different Greenworks tools. This makes it a great choice in our book!

If you are looking for more budget-friendly options Black+Decker is a good choice. As mentioned in our article about Hedge Trimmers, Black+Decker uses a 2 prong plug that is surrounded by circular housing. But this housing prevents you from being able to use a 3 prong extension cord without the potential for damaging your cord. You will need either a small 1 foot 2 prong extension cord or some other adapter to properly use the tool. This is clearly a design flaw that Black+decker needs to address. However, these tools do work good and are priced at the low to mid-range for most of their lineup.

There are of course other brands and models that we are reviewing and comparing and we will be adding that info in the near future.

In the meantime, have you found one brand or model to work better than another? Had a good or bad experiences with this tech? If so, we would like to have your feedback on electric corded weed eaters. You can submit your feedback through the form at the bottom of this or any TekEons Page.
